Essential Staples to Stock Up on This Holiday Season

Holiday sales aren’t just for getting great deals on Christmas gifts. High demand plus ample availability drives down the prices on food staples this time of year and we’re here to help you take advantage of the savings.

Picking up extra baking essentials will last you past the holidays. Everyone will be bringing their favorite baked goods to work parties, friends-giving, as well as family get-togethers and that means sales. If you see a deal on any of  these non-perishable items, grab them while you can.

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Evaporated milk
  • Condensed milk
  • Chocolate chips
  • Baking mixes
  • Cocoa powder

Don’t forget these food staples that can either be stored in a freezer, like meat, or in a pantry, like canned goods, and easy to prepare foods like mac and cheese. Who said you couldn’t have another turkey dinner after Thanksgiving?

  • Canned or frozen vegetables
  • Canned soup
  • Chicken, beef, and vegetable stock
  • Nuts
  • Ham
  • Turkey
  • Stuffing mix
  • Boxed mixes like macaroni and cheese
  • Pasta

All of these items can be used year round so don’t feel bad about stocking up while you can score the savings. Just remember, you don’t have to purchase these items just because they’re on sale. Only stock up on the items that you know you’ll use in the future. Couple these items with coupons and save even more. Check your weekly grocery store flyers for the best deals. The more food you stock up on the more you can save throughout the year by always having the ingredients you need to feed your family. And while you’re saving, consider grabbing a few extra canned items to donate to your local food bank.
