Our checking accounts by any other name would be just as appealing.
These days, everyone has a bucket list. Workers, too. The top item? Renaming our checking accounts. And here are the winning names: Kourtney, Khloe, and Kanye. Just kidding! The new names are actually Simple Checking (the account formerly known as Just Checking), Free Checking (previously named Student Checking) and High Interest Checking (formerly Xtreme Checking but just as extreme). You’ll still enjoy all the features connected to your account; we just updated the account names to better reflect what they’re all about.
What else is new? Well, we’ve found a way to help you stash away some dough. How? When you visit your local branch or call us at 1-800-221-4020 to register for our new Debit Round-Up program, any purchase you make with a Workers Debit Card will be rounded up to the next dollar and the difference transferred from your checking account into your savings account. Buy a Dunkaccino for $4.45 and we’ll take $5 from your checking account, $4.45 pays for the coffee and 55 cents is transferred into your savings. And just like that, you are a saver, congratulations!
Workers Early Pay Day will have your paycheck direct deposited into your Workers checking account up to a full 24 hours earlier than normal. That means faster access to your money.
Here’s how you can arrange for an Early Pay Day:
Start today. Open a Workers checking account online or at any branch.
Tell payroll. Arrange for direct deposit of your paycheck into your new checking account.
Check the date. Your salary will be available up to a day before your company’s normal pay day*.
Enjoy the flexibility. Early access to your money can make it easier to pay your bills on time or get your shopping done before the weekend.
When does this all start? All existing checking accounts will be renamed on October 2nd! Meanwhile, here’s the new world order of Workers checking accounts. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us or stop by any of our many local branches.
*Preauthorized credits received by Workers Credit Union may be credited to your account up to one business day prior to the originally scheduled posting date. On certain occasions, we may not receive the information ahead of time and will not be able to post your deposit early. Instead, your direct deposit will be posted on your normal payday or as soon as we receive it. Workers Credit Union is not liable if we do not receive the preauthorized credit or fail to deposit these funds to your account early. We recommend that you do not write checks or authorize any other withdrawals against your directly deposited funds until you verify that they have been posted to your account. You are responsible for any overdraft fees from transactions clearing prior to your payroll deposit.
