LITTLETON, Mass. (October 14, 2026) – Workers Credit Union is partnering with former Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask, who spent his entire 15-year NHL career with the team before retiring from the sport in 2022. Both Rask and the credit union have ties to Finland. Rask is originally from Finland and the credit union was founded by Finnish immigrants in 1914.
“Tuukka’s cultural connection with Workers Credit Union makes him a natural fit for our credit union, ” said Jay Champion, President and CEO of Workers Credit Union.”Tuukka and Workers also share the same strong work ethic. It made him the winningest goalie in Bruins history, and it has helped Workers support our members and communities for more than 110 years. We call that commitment ‘clocking in’. Tuukka clocking in for our team will help us expand our reach to members old and new to support their efforts to build better lives.”
The partnership will include Rask appearing at special events, in advertising, community advocacy efforts, social media and more.
“Like the Finns who founded Workers Credit Union, I have chosen Massachusetts as a permanent home for me and my family,” said Rask. “I look forward to working with Workers Credit Union, getting to know their members, and supporting their communities and causes.”
Born in Savonlinna, Finland, Rask holds Boston Bruins franchise records for regular season wins (308) and games played (564), was a member of the Bruins’ 2011 Stanley Cup Championship team, won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender in 2014, and led Finland to a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Workers Credit Union traces its roots to John Suominen, a Finnish immigrant and Fitchburg printing company owner who was concerned about the financial well-being of his fellow immigrants. Today it is one of the oldest credit unions in the country and a Community Development Financial Institution serving nearly 122,000 members.
