Workers Credit Union Community and Business Development AVP Calla Flannery wins 2026 EIFLE Award for financial literacy

Littleton, MA April 23, 2026

Workers Credit Union AVP Community and Business Development Calla Flannery was one of two people the Institute for Financial Literacy named the 2026 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE)  Educator of the Year on April 13. Flannery was recognized for her work promoting financial literacy among students who are neurodiverse. The EIFLE Awards honor organizations that provide exceptional financial literacy education and demonstrate measurable impact through their programs.
“Each year, we have the privilege of recognizing individuals and organizations whose work is advancing the field of financial education in meaningful ways,” said Rachel Gordon, executive director of the Institute for Financial Literacy. “Calla Flannery’s nomination reflected exceptional commitment, leadership, and impact.”

The Institute for Financial Literacy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote effective financial education and counseling.

“This award from the Institute for Financial Literacy is an affirmation of Workers Credit Union’s commitment to making financial education available to all,” Flannery said. “We saw there was a need for an inclusive financial learning environment for people who are neurodivergent. With the help of my nonprofit partners, I created a safe space for students of all abilities to learn about banking and how to manage their finances that is tailored to their needs and how they learn best.”

Classes involve interactive, hands-on activities that keep students engaged, along with videos about financial issues that feature closed captioning to reinforce the content being presented. Topics include what financial records are important to keep, how to interact with a teller, and tips for avoiding fraud. The class is a safe space for students of all abilities to learn about banking and how to manage their finances, which improves their chances of success. Workers Credit Union’s partners in this project include the Seven Hills Foundation and the Nashoba Regional School District.
